We’re excited to share some wonderful news: NEU Church Planting has officially adopted Pastor Dexley Dorcely and Faith Community Church in Providence as part of our growing family of gospel-centered churches in New England’s urban neighborhoods!
This adoption is the deepening of a long-standing relationship with a faithful congregation that has been a light in the city for many years. Just a couple of miles from the NEU offices, Faith Community Church has been a familiar and encouraging presence in our local community. And with this new chapter, we’re honored to walk even more closely with Pastor Dexley in ministry and mission.
Born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts, Dexley began his ministry journey serving youth and children in his hometown. That heart for discipleship and family has carried through every stage of his calling. Before stepping into the lead pastoral role at Faith Community Church, Dexley served faithfully as Associate Pastor under the leadership of our longtime friend and brother in Christ, John Ames. His transition to Lead Pastor is marked by humility, faith, and a clear desire to shepherd God’s people with wisdom and care.
Interestingly, Dexley's path to pastoral ministry began not in seminary, but in engineering. He previously worked as a mechanical engineer—a career that no doubt shaped his problem-solving mindset and his ability to build with both precision and vision. Now, he builds in a different way: through prayer, preaching, discipleship, and the cultivation of gospel community.
Dexley and his wife, Brianna, are raising their two children with a deep commitment to Christ and a passion for serving others. As a family, they embody the mission we strive to pursue together: loving our neighborhoods with the hope and power of the Gospel.
We couldn’t be more grateful to officially welcome Dexley and Faith Community Church into the NEU network. Our aim is to walk together in mutual encouragement, shared resources, and deepened partnership as we seek to see churches flourish across New England’s cities.
